As the drivers
for LCD/FPD displays are not readily available on the market, nondestructive
disassembly of the TCP-mounted drivers is paramount to level 3 repair. TCP attachment
is currently done with thermoset ACAS based on epoxies. These adhesives are
very tough. For efficient removal of TCP circuits, especially if the TCPs shall
be reused, the adhesive must be weakened before removal of the TCP. An additional
difficulty is that the adhesives used for attaching the copper to the PI substrate
of the TCP in the production process are quite similar to the ACAS used for
their thermal resistance. Therefore, action for weakening the ACA must be as
selective as possible. Our Proprietary equipment allows us to securely disassemble
TCPs from scrap LCD/FPD panels.
